Lochaber Guides was founded in 2010.  The Lochaber area, which means 'confluence of the lochs'   includes Glencoe in the South, Knoydart and Ardnamurchan to the West and North towards the Great Glen.

Since then, we have guided hundreds of clients on various peaks, in summer and winter including Ben Nevis, peaks in Glencoe, the Mamores and further afield including the Cairngorms, Wester Ross and more.


Lochaber Guides

Dave moved on from a career in Dentistry to pursue his true passion- to work in the mountains and is owner and founder of Lochaber Guides.

He is a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor, the highest UK qualification in Summer Mountaineering instruction. In additon, Dave also holds the Summer Mountain Leader Award  and the Winter Mountain Leader Award. He is qualified in First Aid appropriate to the Mountain Environment, administered by the British Association of Ski Patrollers (BASP).  He is a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) and the Mountain Training Association (MTA) and has civil liability insurance.

 Dave has been walking in the Scottish Hills since he was a teenager. Having climbed many of the Munros,  he then progressed to mountain scrambles, rock climbing ,winter mountaineering and ice climbing. He has trekked, walked and climbed in the Pyrenees, Japan,  the French Alps and the Himalayas but his true love is of the Scottish Mountains.

 He has lots of experience being in the Scottish Mountains and loves sharing his passion of these hills with others. Even the midges and the rain won't dampen his enthusiasm for the hills!

Glenda may be the first person you make contact with when getting in touch with us.

Glenda has over 25 years experience of hillwalking in Scotland during which she has also walked and climbed in the Dolomites, Spanish Pyrenees, Nepal Himalaya and French Alps.  Her love of the outdoors led her to complete a degree in Environmental Science. Glenda holds the Summer Mountain Leader qualification an Outdoor First Aid Qualification and is pursuing the Single Pitch Award.

Glenda's enthusiasm for the hills is matched only by her passion for fine cakes!
