This enjoyable two day course allows us to cover the skills in more depth and allow some consolidation. A sample itinerary is given below. The vary nature of winter mountaineering means there has to be some flexibility in course content depending on the conditions we encounter.
Day 1- Snowcraft
Ice Axe- Use and selection, Ice Axe Self Arrest and Self Belay
Crampons- Types, Selection and Use
Step Kicking and Step Cutting
Day 2- Mountain Day
This day usually involves a journey in the mountains putting into practice some of the skills learned in Day 1.

By the end of the course you will be well
on your way to learning the skills to travel
safely in the Scottish mountains in Winter.
Possible Venues include Coire Na Ciste on Ben Nevis,Coire Dubh on Aonach Mor, Stob Coire Nan Lochan in Glen Coe and others.
